Gowrings Mobility was the first supplier of wheelchair accessible vehicles to the Motability scheme and was one of the first manufacturers to be accredited as a Motability Premier Partner in 1998. We are now a Motability Converter Partner.

About Motability

Motability is a national charity that has overall responsibility for the Motability Car Schemes and adaptations. It’s also the charity that can provide financial help to customers who need help to afford the Initial Advance Payment.

 

The Motability Car Schemes are currently run by Motability Operations, a not-for-profit private company. The car schemes enable disabled people to obtain a car by using the government funded mobility allowances.

Eligibility

To use any of the Motability Schemes, you must be receiving either the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement.

 

To join the scheme, you must be between 3 - 65 years old. If you are over 65 years old and you are already in receipt of an indefinite award, you will still be eligible.

Motability Car Schemes

Motability has two schemes: Contract Hire and Nearly New WAV (Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle) scheme.

 

Although these Motability schemes are popular, you are not obliged to obtain your WAV through them and we can talk you through alternatives.

Getting a Gowrings Mobility WAV through Motability

Please talk to us before you complete your Motability Application Form. Our qualified Motability team helps Motability customers get on the road faster than ever before.

 

We operate an advanced computerised booking schedule, which coordinates the UK-wide movements of a team of demonstrators and vehicles, and allows you to have a free demonstration and assessment of your chosen vehicle, usually within days.

 

We hold cars in stock that are Motability-approved. These are Gowrings Mobility tested cars, which are already converted and ready for immediate delivery. Our Motability team will also liaise with Motability on your behalf to arrange all the necessary paperwork and speed up your application.
